A small, fast web browser for Android, built on the system WebView. It started as a teaching app for a workshop at 091 Labs; 5.0 rebuilt it for today’s web with tabs, private tabs and reader view, and 5.2 gave it its own home page, address-bar suggestions from a history that stays on the phone, and pages saved to read offline.
Features
- Tabs and private tabs: tabs kept across restarts; private tabs with their own cookies and site data, deleted when you close them; links from other apps can open in a private tab, and a tab dragged onto a section moves, bookmarks or saves it
- Its own home page with your top bookmarks, other tabs and saved pages
- Reader view: clean, resizable text for articles (it keeps the size you last chose), and the full text of paywalled ones from the page’s own data, wallhop.io or web archives; articles and whole pages saved to read offline
- Ad and tracker blocker on StevenBlack’s hosts list, updated weekly
- Video: play a page’s videos (including HLS and DASH streams) in the built-in player; background playback with lock-screen and headphone controls
- A classic address bar at the top or bottom that hides while you read, with suggestions from your tabs, bookmarks and history; find in page, zoom per site, desktop site, share, pull to refresh
- Password managers (Bitwarden, 1Password, Google…) fill sign-ins, and passkeys work
- Light, dark or system theme, six search engines (Kagi with your Session Link), bookmarks with previews, downloads and uploads
- History kept on the phone only; no ads, no account; anonymous crash reports and usage statistics on my own servers, never with the pages you visit
Privacy
sBrowser keeps your history on your phone for the address bar’s suggestions and never sends anyone which pages you visit. Anonymous usage statistics (Umami) and crash reports (GlitchTip) both run on my own servers, and neither ever includes the pages you visit or what you type. The privacy policy has the details.
Latest version: 5.3 (2026), with a new, bigger icon. 5.0 rebuilt it for Android 16 with a multi-module Kotlin and Jetpack Compose architecture.
